Blog-stylings from the Chinwag team with news, site updates, online recruitment industry snippets and other new media tidbits that catch our attention.
We saw a landmark in our history today, as for the first time since our January 2006 launch, the site held over 1,000 jobs!
We might have to celebrate with half a pint of shandy tonight - thanks to everyone who’s been advertising with us for making the site such an exciting and varied place to find jobs in new media.
I received an email from the Recruiter Magazine that I thought would be useful to share:
Chancellor Gordon Brown has delayed legislation that makes recruitment agencies liable for the unpaid taxes of contractors.
The legislation will now relate to taxes owed from 6 January, 2008, and not 6 April 2007, as had originally been envisaged.
However, the clampdown on composite companies themselves is going ahead. Contractors working through composites will have to go on to the Pay as You Earn system. Many contractors will now switch to work through umbrella companies, or Personal Service Companies (PSCs).
You can find out more on this from the HM Revenue and Customs website. If you’re in any doubt if this will affect you do speak to your recruitment agent, or seek professional advice.
I’m pleased to announce that Chinwag Jobs will be sponsoring the drinks after the BarCamp Scotland event, happening this weekend.
BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.
We hope you all have a great time, and have a beer for us! Actually, there’s quite a few of us here, having a beer for eash of us chould get choo verry drunk!
