Microsoft beats Google to a stake in Facebook

Microsoft have reigned supreme the Great Facebook Battle!

Both Google and Microsoft have been locked in talks with Facebook to buy a stake in the social networking site, which according to the Financial Times, is currently growing at a faster rate than present top dog MySpace. The cash payment of $240 million equates to a 1.6 per cent stake in Facebook for Microsoft, which is a fair amount of dosh!

There has been a lot of banter about this impending deal on the Chinwag discussion lists this week and if you would like to join  the discussion as well, please sign up to UK Netmarketing (UKNM) or the Social Media lists to get your point across.

Chinwag Groups on LinkedIn and Facebook

There seems to be a general consensus in our office that Facebook is more geared to play, sorry, informal networking, whilst LinkedIn is proper grown-up business social network. Judging by noises from both camps these positions are likely to change, especially with some of the new business-friendly features that are chugging down Facebook’s development pipeline.

Whilst the situation shakes out, LinkedIn is still a handy place to showcase your profile when looking overtly, or covertly, for new opportunities and also widely used by companies and agents truffling out candidates. The Chinwag Facebook group has been running for quite a while now, and it’s one of the many ways to keep in touch with the latest developments at Chinwag Towers.

Now, we’re pleased to announce a Chinwag LinkedIn group. Yup, just sign-up, wait for us to tick the right box in the interface ad you’ll have some rather fetching Chinwag-related LinkedIn bling to add to your profile. Not only that, but other Chinwaggers will know that you’re one of the gang.

Chinwag Jobs feedback please!

Finding the time to look for a new job can be tricky to say the least. Wading through hundreds of irrelevant positions that are advertising everything from a Mechanic to an Astronaut is a tiring, and quite frankly, unnecessary task.

Isn’t it a ruddy blessing then that Chinwag Jobs is on hand to act as a focal point for an abundance of dream roles in the digital industry? You don’t even have to search the site because they can come straight to your inbox - marvellous ingenuity!

We are often bumping into Chinwaggers who have found their perfect job through Chinwag Jobs and we would love to hear from others as we know you’re out there ;)
