There seems to be a general consensus in our office that Facebook is more geared to play, sorry, informal networking, whilst LinkedIn is proper grown-up business social network. Judging by noises from both camps these positions are likely to change, especially with some of the new business-friendly features that are chugging down Facebook’s development pipeline.

Whilst the situation shakes out, LinkedIn is still a handy place to showcase your profile when looking overtly, or covertly, for new opportunities and also widely used by companies and agents truffling out candidates.
