Department: Online Sales

The Sky Digital Media online sales team is solely responsible for selling all advertising and sponsorship across all wholly owned Sky properties and 3rd party websites. The team consists of an overall Head of Trading, and 4 Group heads. Each group head is responsible for managing a team of 3; A Senior exec, an Exec and a Media Assistant. All staff within Sky Digital Media (SDM) Online Sales team need to be motivated and focused, ensuring that they lead by example both within SDM and in the market place.

Key Tasks:

- Service agencies and clients and develop strong customer relationships – including contact with offline planners at your key agencies
- Manage accounts with agencies and ensure campaigns are optimised and deliver on time.
- Use sales systems to include reporting, optimising and up selling
- Maximise revenue generation across agencies and clients direct
- Develop new business and generate revenue from new clients
- Promote a strong brand image for Sky Digital Media
- Support the Online Sales Managers
- To be the expert and first point of contact for all agencies within portfolio
- Maintain and develop relationships with agencies
- Respond to and follow up briefs by e-mail and telephone
- Visit agencies and keep them up-to-date with developments within Sky Digital Media
- Generate maximum possible revenues from agencies
- A full understanding of past, current and future new media market conditions
- Support and share work with Online Sales Manager
- Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills

Core Objectives for this role are:

- To grow revenue for Sky Digital Media through sales solutions to agencies and clients
- To ensure that present and potential clients and agencies of SDM understand the creative potential of the SDM online portfolio and the environment and variety that our websites offer
- To build a relationship with other key departments at Sky media to maintain a clear communication channel between departments
- Developing relationships with key planners and buyers to ensure that present and potential advertisers of Sky Digital Media understand the full potential of the Sky Online advertising opportunities across its portfolio
- Working with the online team and colleagues to ensure that integrated sales opportunities are being proactively created and sold to advertisers across the online portfolio and sky media offering
- Keep up-to-date with new advertising and business opportunities e.g. Mobile, Broadband, IPTV, SMS So that the business develops and communicate them to agencies and clients
- To gain a better understanding of our industry and the issues affecting it
- Have a clear understanding of the entire Sky Digital Media offering
- Work with the research team to obtain relevant information for proposals and presentations.
- Able to influence and persuade key people internally and externally to build support for courses of action
- Work with Sky Digital Media team members to share knowledge and experience for the benefit of the revenue objectives

Knowledge and Abilities

- A knowledge of the Sky Digital Media websites and how they sit within their competitive set and the market as a whole would be ideal as well as the environment, editorial, advertising opportunities and core information about the sites.
- Proven understanding of different creatives within the online sector and how these can integrate them into the SDM sites.
- Must have an understanding of all current delivery mechanisms such as third parties e.g. Eyeblaster and Tango Zebra.
- Proven experience of creating and delivering creative proposals through to final booking of revenue
- Excellent creative ability and communication skills, articulate with the written and spoken word, the ability to manage relationships with advertisers, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent presentation skills for both external and internal use.
- Effective influencing, negotiation, sales and time management skills.
